Research Nurse Specialist II - Allergy/Pulmonary 1911854 Your Role: Serve as the Lead Nurse Coordinator for multiple investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical drug trials. Under the guidance and supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Nurse Specialist II (RNS II) is responsible for assuring that the integrity and quality of the clinical research trial is maintained and that the trial is conducted in accordance with Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, federal and sponsor regulations and guidelines and Vanderbilt Policy and Procedure. The RNS II plans and implements recruitment procedures for potential participants, manages enrollment of the trial from screening to randomization to study completion, ensures compliance with protocols and overall research and clinical objectives, manages study-related procedures as required by the protocol, maintains accurate and timely documentation and maintains communication with the sponsor. Assist in budget negotiation, contract development, and study start-up Actively participate in pre-site selection visits, site initiation visits, investigator meetings (occuring infrequently off campus) for study start-up Use eSMART and build billing grids Schedule research patients for visits, order appropriate tests and schedule these (ensure proper linking to research studies) Carry out visits with the investigator, documenting study notes, consent, and billing notes Maintain organized and legible charts Maintain regulatory binders Notify IRB of study updates, SAEs and other important information Enter data into EDC systems and other sponsor-supported systems. Answer queries in a timely manner Provider oversight and ownership of the project Perform billing reconciliation. Our nurses are able to utilize evidence-based guidelines and specialized gerontology nursing education in caring for the patients on the ACE Unit. The staff experiences the professional satisfaction that comes with making a difference every day for their patients and families, while expanding their critical care knowledge base and applying critical thinking skills to understand and intervene in the care of their patients. Our population of patients may include patients with any number of co-morbidities, including neurological, respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, renal and endocrine medical conditions. · All beds are appropriate for telemetry and sp02 monitoring. · Staffing Management structure of the Ace Unit consists of the Unit Manager and 3 Clinical Staff Leaders and Nurse Educator. Each Clinical Staff Leader is responsible for 18-20 staff. The staff is composed of RN’s, Care Partners and Medical Receptionists. RN assignments are determined by patient census and acuity. Unit Summary 6 Round Wing/Adult Inpatient Medicine, located in Medical Center North at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, is fast-paced and focused on acute medicine. 6RW is a 14 bed unit, which cares for adult patients with non-surgical acute medicine conditions. The mission of the 6RW/Medicine is to provide compassionate, quality care that is respectful, patient/family-centered, safe, and cost efficient. Our nurses are able to utilize evidence-based guidelines to provide the highest quality of care. The staff experiences the professional satisfaction that comes with making a difference every day for their patients and families, while expanding their critical care knowledge base and applying critical thinking skills to understand and intervene in the care of their patients. Our population of patients may include patients with any number of co-morbidities, including neurological, respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, renal and endocrine medical conditions. All beds are appropriate for continuous bedside sp02 monitoring. The Management structure of 6RW/Medicine consists of the Unit Manager and 2 Clinical Staff Leaders and Nurse Educator. Each Clinical Staff Leader is responsible for 18-20 staff. The staff is composed of RN’s, Care Partners and Medical Receptionists and RN assignments are determined by patient census and acuity. Our primary focus is to provide our diverse patient population with excellent care related to any elective, urgent, or emergent major surgical intervention, as well as procedures that negatively impact normal hemodynamic stability. This is typically the immediate post-operative phase, but may also include the diagnostic, pre-operative, and extended post-operative phases of care. Our nurses work closely with the SICU physicians and nurse practitioners to provide care for patients with multiple system organ dysfunctions, ventilators, vasoactive drips and other therapies to ensure optimal sedation, analgesia, cardiac, and hemodynamic function. Our nursing team assists in coordinating the care between the multiple disciplines and physician teams to provide optimal outcomes for our critically ill patients. Our primary focus is to provide our diverse patient population with excellent care related to any elective, urgent, or emergent major surgical intervention, as well as procedures that negatively impact normal hemodynamic stability. This is typically the immediate post-operative phase, but may also include the diagnostic, pre-operative, and extended post-operative phases of care. Our nurses work closely with the SICU physicians and nurse practitioners to provide care for patients with multiple system organ dysfunctions, ventilators, vasoactive drips and other therapies to ensure optimal sedation, analgesia, cardiac, and hemodynamic function. Our nursing team assists in coordinating the care between the multiple disciplines and physician teams to provide optimal outcomes for our critically ill patients.
