Registered Nurse – Inpatient Oncology Summary: The Inpatient Oncology unit is located on the 2nd floor at Parkview Regional Medical Center. It is a 22 bed unit that primarily sees cancer patients going through active treatment under the care of an Oncologist, but sometimes some overflow Med Surg patients as well. It is a fast-paced, high acuity unit. Patients are very sick and are often moved to and from the ICU multiple times. Patients may stay in the unit for weeks at a time and typically have multiple admissions to the unit. *This Educator will support the Periop Team* Summary Serves as primary resource for planning, coordinating and facilitating professional nursing and clinical staff education throughout the Parkview Health System. Responsible for the planning, coordinating, and facilitating education initiatives in support of Parkview Health mission, vision, and strategies with consideration of adult learning principles in program development and presentation. Serves as a role model and advocate for performance improvement in collaboration with co-workers across PH. Education Must have a BSN from accredited program. Acceptable accrediting agencies are Commission on Collegiate Education in Nursing (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA). MSN preferred. Those hired prior to 9/2012, qualify under previous BS requirements. Indiana Perinatal Standards require that NICU and Obstetrics educators have a Master's degree, MSN preferred, or be actively in progress of obtaining the degree. Licensure/Certification Valid Indiana Registered Nurse license required. Certification in clinical specialty area preferred. Nursing Professional Staff Development certification within 3 years preferred. Experience Must have minimum of five years experience in direct patient care, preferably in area of specialty for position applied and have prior experience in education role (i.e. patient education, staff education, community, academic…). Indiana Perinatal Standards require that NICU and Obstetrics educators must have advanced neonatal and obstetrical experience. Other Qualifications Effective verbal and written communication skills.
