In this role, you will work closely alongside the surgical and anesthesia teams, as well as one additional Advanced Practice Provider, to provide comprehensive preoperative evaluations that promote patient safety, enhance surgical outcomes, and deliver exceptional care.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program with current licensure or eligibility for licensure in South Carolina.
Currently licensed (or eligible) in the state of South Carolina as a Physician Assistant by the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners or as a Nurse Practitioner with the SC Board of Nursing.
Requires certification in BLS
APRN or PA must maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law
DHEC and DEA license
Position Highlights:
Monday – Friday 8AM-5PM
Inpatient
Evaluate patients for medical optimization prior to surgery, identifying and addressing conditions that may impact perioperative safety.
Provide patient education regarding preoperative instructions, medication management, fasting guidelines, and expectations for the surgical experience.
Initiates referrals to other health care providers, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician
Communicate significant findings or concerns with the surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure continuity of care.
Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates the learning of other new team members
