Summary

Unit Overview: The 4/5 West Observation Unit is a brand new 20‑bed unit serving low‑acuity patients expected to have a length of stay of less than 48 hours, with an average stay of approximately 24 hours. The unit is divided evenly between 4 West and 5 West and functions as a short‑stay observation area with frequent admissions and discharges in a fast‑paced environment. Nurses care for patients admitted for brief observation and may also support after‑hours infusions, working alongside one patient care technician per floor. Training for the unit includes experience in both the emergency department and inpatient settings, with portions of orientation potentially completed at PRMC while the unit becomes fully established. The team values adaptability, efficiency, and collaboration to ensure safe, timely care for patients transitioning quickly through their hospital stay.

Qualifications:

Requires a Diploma in nursing or an ASN/BSN

Valid Indiana Registered Nurse license required. CPR certification.

Additional certifications may be required for specified areas.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds, assist with 100 pounds. (Lifting requirements may be heavier for specified departments.) Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
