Overview

Hours: 3/12 hour shifts per week, shift hours 7pm to 7am with variable days

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Registered Nurse in the CardioThoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU), under general supervision, conducts patient assessments, participates in the development of the plan of care, implements and evaluates care according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. Collaborates with health care team members in the delivery of ICU level care.

The 24 bed CTICU was established at CHLA in 1993. It is staffed by pediatric intensivists and located within the Heart Institute. About 900 patients are admitted each year, including children with the most complex diseases of the heart and lung. The CTICU is known as a worldwide leader in the treatment of heart disease (congenital or acquired) and lung disorders in children. We provide virtually every advanced treatment for all heart disorders and defects affecting children from neonate to young adult.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 1 year of RN experience with at least 1 year of acute pediatric experience. Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care; maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies; prioritize tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing.

Education/Licensure/Certification: Associate Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California and American Heart Association CPR/BLS/PALS certification required.

Pay Scale Information

$104,395.00-$171,506.00

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates who exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
