Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Executive Director and Associate Chief Nursing Officer, PCS Ambulatory provides oversight of nursing practice and clinical leadership, for ambulatory clinics, ambulatory care centers, ambulatory clinical float pool, ambulatory care coordination, operational and clinical efficiency, and process improvement, in collaboration with ambulatory medical and administrative leadership. Works in partnership with the VP, Ambulatory, Director of Ambulatory Operations, ACC leadership, various Division Chiefs and Medical Directors, and other appropriate stakeholders to develop policies, procedures, and programs to ensure high-quality patient safety and effective use of resources that align with the mission and vision of the organization. Directs goals and objectives for the department(s) and projects/programs assigned in collaboration with the medical, clinical, and administrative leadership teams to ensure standards of professional practice, regulatory requirements, continuous performance improvement initiatives, financial accountability, and responsibility are optimized and in compliance. Collaborates with leaders and directs improvements in employee engagement, well-being, and patient family experience. Manages Magnet requirements in the ambulatory setting as well as partners in driving quality and patient safety.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
Required:
- 5 years progressive management experience.
- Expertise in hospital nursing leadership.
- Ability to mentor, manage and lead staff in a variety of settings to provide effective and compliant care and services.
- Ability to work with staff at all levels.
- Effective at leading change, expertise in building and leading teams.
- Experience in an ambulatory/outpatient environment, managing nursing staffing in clinics, float pool, neighborhood / offsite clinics, regulatory compliance, DNV/TJC and state standards, nursing scope of practice.
- Director and above management experience.
- Experience working in academic environment, pediatrics.
- Specialty patient care programs and managing ambulatory clinical operations.
- Experience with implementing High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles.
Required:
- Master’s degree in Nursing or relevant health-related field from an accredited school.
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of California.
- Current BLS from the American Heart Association.
- Current nursing specialty certification as needed.
- PhD/DNP
Pay Scale Information
$199,056.00-$322,483.00

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates who exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
