Job Description Summary
MUSC Children’s After Hours and Specialty Clinics is a pediatric outpatient clinic operating under Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital at MUSC, now opening in the new MUSC Medical Office Building in Bluffton. This location brings pediatric After Hours services to the Bluffton community for the first time.During daytime hours, the facility hosts a wide range of pediatric subspecialists, including pediatric gastroenterology, cardiology, and orthopedics, among others. We also provide walk‑in After Hours Care, which serves as an extension of the pediatric emergency department to support families during the times when most pediatric practices are closed.

Job Description
Specialty Clinics: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m
After Hours Clinic:
Monday–Friday, 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Weekends, 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Schedule: This full‑time position consists of two 12‑hour shifts (8:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.), two 8‑hour shifts: 12:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and every other weekend from 10:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
The RN II reports to the Ambulatory Services Manager and provides patient‑centered nursing care to pediatric patients and their families within the scope of practice and the nursing process. The RN also serves as the Charge Nurse during After Hours operations, offering leadership and guidance to staff, providers, and patients to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality care.
Minimum Education and Requirements: Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to policy A141 for more details. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
Preference: Charge nurse experience is preferred for After Hours coverage.
