The Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) at UNC REX Hospital is proud to be certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center by the Joint Commission. Working in close collaboration with specialties including speech-language pathologists, respiratory, occupational, and physical therapists, social and case managers, our highly trained and dedicated nurses provide world-class interdisciplinary care to our patients and our community.
Our renowned neuro-critical care team is on-site around-the-clock and utilizes state of the art equipment such as external ventricular drains, Camino intracranial pressure monitors, electroencephalography, and point-of-care ultrasound devices in our recently remodeled 10 bed NSICU. Patients suffering from subarachnoid hemorrhage, acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subdural hematomas, coma, brain and spine tumors, seizure disorders, neuro-infections and more can expect nothing but the most compassionate, genuine, and advanced care available.
Summary: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
