RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide nursing care to obstetric, gynecologic, postpartum, lactation, newborn, and behavioral health patients in accordance with provider direction and established clinical standards.
Assist providers during examinations and procedures by serving as a scribe, chaperone, or clinical assistant, while independently conducting nurse visits as appropriate.
Coordinate patient care by managing triage calls, patient messages, appointment scheduling, surgery coordination, prescription refills, prior authorizations, and laboratory follow-up.
Prepare examination rooms, maintain clinical supplies and equipment, and ensure accurate documentation within the Epic electronic medical record system.
Collaborate closely with providers and the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, patient-centered care and support quality improvement initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska required.
Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification required within six months of hire.
AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring certification required within six months of hire.
Experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum/Mother-Baby, lactation, gynecology, and/or ambulatory nursing strongly preferred.
Experience using Epic electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.
Strong communication, organization, multitasking, and critical thinking skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based clinic.
Ability to accurately calculate medication dosages and maintain detailed patient documentation.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, frequently stoop, and safely lift up to 30 pounds.
ENVIRONMENT
Seaside Women's Care, operated by South Peninsula Hospital, is a comprehensive women's health clinic located on the hospital campus, providing coordinated care for every stage of a woman's life. This primarily indoor position offers a collaborative, patient-focused environment where nurses work closely with physicians, certified nurse-midwives, behavioral health providers, and support staff. Work schedules may vary based on clinic operations, patient volume, education, meetings, and community outreach activities. The position involves exposure to infectious diseases, including bloodborne pathogens, as well as potential hazards such as needle-stick injuries, patient handling, falls, and musculoskeletal strain, and requires consistent adherence to infection control and workplace safety practices.
