Position Summary
Under the leadership of the department Director, Assistant Director, Nursing Supervisor, and/or Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for planning directing, assessing and providing nursing care according to the policies and procedures of the hospital and department. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and a broad nursing knowledge. The Registered Nurse is an experienced nurse who shall orient new staff, precept students, and assume relief charge nurse duty as oriented and assigned.
This position requires critical thinking, sharp assessment skills, quick decision-making ability, effective communication, and the ability to work under pressure. This position requires the willingness and ability to be required to be on-call on a rotating basis as scheduled and to respond within 30 minutes of call-back communication is essential.
The Registered Nurse may be responsible for but not limited to performing Cath Lab invasive procedures, providing patient education for cardiac inpatients, focuses on patient outcomes, core measures, and other organizational initiatives, and coordinates clinical research activities.
Experience
Must have two years recent Cath Lab experience with pre and post procedure assessment and groin management skills and/or at least two years critical care experience (to include experience with ventilators, vasoactive drips and/or advance telemetry).
Education
Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients requiring the applicable skill, and must complete and pass all annual competencies.
Licensure/Certifications
State of California RN license required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS is required. ACLS must be obtained prior to completion of orientation and independent assignment. NIHSS- Stroke Certification is required within 3 months of hire.
