About Us:
The Palliative Care Department is a small, specialized department of multidisciplinary clinical staff with medical director oversight who manage and navigate our most delicate and complex pediatric patients suffering from life limiting diseases. The team is a consultative team who function seamlessly to meet the emotional and physical needs of the Palliative Care pediatric patient. Physical care of the patient includes pain management as well as end-of-life care when appropriate. Emotional needs of the patient include consultation, counseling, and social services support. Additionally, the team meets the emotional needs of the patient’s primary caregivers to include parents, relatives, and significant others. The service is primarily an inpatient service, but the team will consult in the outpatient arena when appropriate
Job Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Practitioner who is accountable for a "defined" patient population. Functions in the roles of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, patient advocate, care coordinator and researcher within a specialized area of practice. Possesses and exhibits a high degree of knowledge, skill and competence in the provision of health care directly to the patient, family or community, or indirectly through guidance of care by other professional personnel. Provision of patient care is conducted and performed utilizing the medical model within the scope of licensure and in accordance with applicable law, regulations, and in accordance with VCH policies. Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed, pursuant to hospital needs. Upon acceptance of an offer of employment and prior to providing patient care, candidate must submit Scope of Practice and all information for credentialing, to the Medical Staff office, Hospital Interdisciplinary Professional Practice Council.Qualifications:
