The University of Virginia Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP)—either an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA)—to join our Inpatient Procedural Sedation Service. This unique hybrid service provides moderate sedation to adult inpatients throughout the medical center, supporting a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
The APP plays a central role in evaluating patients, developing individualized sedation plans, and delivering procedural sedation in a safe and effective manner. This is a day position that offers a dynamic mix of fixed-location sedation care and a roving/mobile service to meet patients where they are within the hospital.

The ideal candidate is:
· Participate in continuing education activities, conferences, rounds, lectures, journal clubs, and professional meetings.
· Serve as a clinical resource and educator for nursing staff, APPs, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
· Support the education of students, residents, fellows, and advanced practice trainees as appropriate.
· Pursue professional growth opportunities that enhance clinical expertise and leadership development.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree.
Experience: Department and unit specific.
Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
