Job Description:
Position Summary
Under the leadership of the department director, assistant director, and/or charge nurse, the Orderly is responsible for performing routine cleaning duties, handling equipment, and setting up operating rooms which include, but are not limited to: terminal cleaning of all operating room suites on a scheduled basis; managing operating room equipment coordination and set-ups for various procedures; assisting nursing staff with operating room turnover between cases to optimize case/utilization; assisting nursing staff with lifting, positioning of patients, and movement of heavy equipment; and assisting as a back-up Orderly to the SSU/PACU departments as needed. Performs duties according to the policy and procedures of CHOMP and the department. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of work, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, and good public/customer relations.
Experience
Previous experience in acute care hospital as Nursing Assistant, Orderly, Transporter, or equivalent experience preferred. Must have basic computer skills.
Education
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
Licensure/Certifications
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification is required or completed within three months of hire.
