Administration
-Participate in a structured four‑month onboarding process with progressive independence.
-Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the Epic EMR in compliance with institutional, state, and federal requirements.
-Coordinate care logistics, including scheduling of tests, procedures, and referrals.
-Assist with APP coverage within the malignant hematology ambulatory team.
-Adhere to infection control protocols when caring for immunocompromised patients.
Professional
-Practice in a model emphasizing independent clinical decision‑making with physician collaboration.
-Engage in continuous professional development and evidence‑based practice.
-Demonstrate strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
-Provide compassionate, patient‑centered care to individuals with acute and chronic hematologic malignancies.
-Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research protocols as appropriate.
Clinical
-Manage eight independent ambulatory clinic sessions (4 hours per session).
-Perform and document comprehensive histories and physical exams.
-Develop differential diagnoses and individualized treatment plans in collaboration with attending hematologists.
-Order, interpret, and manage diagnostic tests and imaging studies related to hematologic malignancies.
-Prescribe and manage pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic therapies, adjusting plans based on patient response.
-Monitor and manage side effects and complications of chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapies.
-Perform bone marrow biopsies and skin biopsies.
-Provide patient and family education regarding disease processes, treatments, side effects, prognosis, and survivorship.
-Identify and initiate appropriate sub‑specialty consultations.
Leadership
-Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team of physicians, APPs, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, and leadership.
-Professionally lead and support other members of the care team in a dynamic clinical environment.
-Contribute to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and high‑quality care delivery.
-Engage in process improvement efforts to enhance clinical efficiency and patient outcomes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree.
Experience: Department and unit specific.
Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The starting base rate for this role is $116,123.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.Benefits
