Work Shift
Night (United States of America)
Directs patient care by supervising staff nurses/PCA/and Unit secretaries when monitoring patients, administering medications, consulting with health care providers, updating patient records, and educating patients and their patient's families on disease and post-hospital treatment. Provides general shift supervision and coordinates daily administrative duties, including schedules, nursing assignments, and patient care.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Manages the patient admission process to include assessments and plan of care development. Ensures the weekly plan of care is updated and RN participates in Team conferences. Makes shift assignments, manages call-outs by ensuring staff is appropriate for the next shift. Communicate with staff and makes decisions as needed for the shift to operating smoothly. Communicate issues thru the AOD, SOS event systems, and DON.
Monitors & directs pt. care thru observation & assessments. Responds to rapid response requests by assessment of patient and communication with the physician. Ensures patient needs are met. Create & maintain high performance by positive leadership, supports staff needs, communicate effectively and efficiently.
Provides nursing care in cooperation with physicians utilizing nursing standards of practice and policy. Ensure all staff is aware of policy and procedures. Documents timely and accurately in EMR. Ensures staff are documenting appropriately in EMR and utilizing bar scanning for medications.
Communicate with other personnel to improve patient care with open and honest communication skills.
Maintain knowledge of current trends. Meet competency expectations for the hospital. Assists other staff with competency checks and teaches staff as needed for compliance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:
Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing as and Associate Degree/Diploma Nurse Required
Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing Preferred
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC-ALS - Amer Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS-I - ACLS - Instructor or ACLS-P - ACLS-Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days
BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact
Minimum 2 years team leading and patient care. Required

Ability to read, write and speak English language, optimize the use of technology to support clinical care and holds basic computer skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
Works well with others in a collaborative, team-focused, patient centered way.
Communicates effectively both orally and in written form with all levels of internal and external resources.
Analytical skills necessary to solve technical, clinical and managerial challenges.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Sufficient clinical and leadership experience to ensure competence and credibility to lead others.
