Summary:
The Clinical Nurse II provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care within the Family Planning Clinic and hospital-based reproductive health procedures. Responsibilities include patient assessment, education, procedural support, perioperative care, triage, and coordination of follow-up services. The Clinical Nurse II practices in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and delivers trauma-informed, inclusive, and confidential care.
Responsibilities:
Family Planning Clinic
- Provide contraceptive counseling, pregnancy testing, STI screening, and patient education.
- Assist with IUD insertions/removals, Nexplanon procedures, and routine gynecologic care.
- Perform nursing assessments, administer medications, and document care in the EMR.
Moderate Sedation
- Provide nursing care for patients receiving moderate sedation in accordance with institutional policies and protocols.
- Perform pre-sedation assessments and monitor patients during and after procedures.
- Document all sedation-related care in the EMR and respond appropriately to patient needs or changes in condition.
Reproductive Health Procedures
- Provide perioperative nursing care for reproductive health procedures performed in the operating room.
- Participate in pre-operative, intraoperative, and post-operative nursing care and recovery.
- Provide trauma-informed emotional support and patient education throughout the Perioperative experience.
- Adhere to all institutional policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Cross-Training
- Participate in cross-training with Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) services as needed to support patient care and clinic operations.
Preferences:
- Experience in OB/GYN, Family Planning, and/or Women’s Health.
- Experience with Epic or similar electronic medical record systems.
Other information:
Education Requirements:
● Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
● If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
● Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
Professional Experience Requirements:
● One (1) year of nursing experience.
