RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate comprehensive care for obstetric patients, ensuring timely services and continuity across inpatient and outpatient settings
Serve as a clinical resource and educator, supporting staff onboarding, competency validation, and ongoing training programs
Lead and support quality improvement initiatives, data reporting, and policy development in collaboration with leadership
Facilitate communication between patients, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to enhance care delivery
Maintain clinical competency to provide direct patient care in labor & delivery, postpartum, and newborn care as needed.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, or Nursery care
Current AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification or NRP Instructor status
Experience with Epic EMR systems and clinical documentation workflows
Strong communication skills, including effective speaking, listening, and writing
Ability to apply critical thinking and clinical expertise across inpatient and outpatient settings
Experience in education, quality improvement, policy development, or care coordination (preferred)
Physical Requirement: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
ENVIRONMENT
The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. This role is based in a small, community-focused critical access hospital with an integrated long-term care facility and a Family Birthing Center designed for personalized, patient-centered care. You’ll work closely with interdisciplinary teams in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with a schedule that may vary based on patient needs, education sessions, and departmental priorities. The position involves moderate physical activity, with most work performed indoors in a clinical environment, and exposure to job hazards such as infectious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, needle stick injuries, and potential physical strain from lifting or extended standing.
