The RN Team Member Injury Prevention Coordinator (TMIPC) provides oversight for the organization’s team member injury prevention program, ensuring high-quality outcomes through data-driven performance management, regulatory compliance, and interdepartmental collaboration. The role partners with stakeholders across the organization, serves as a subject matter expert on team member injury prevention and workplace safety, and supports quality, safety, and operational outcomes.
This role requires a dynamic individual who possesses a strong background in healthcare, OSHA (Occupational Safety Health Administration) regulations, safety protocols, blood and body fluid exposures, patient handling, and team member injury prevention.
The TMIPC is responsible for team member injury case review, program monitoring, reporting, OSHA documentation, and participation on organizational committees as a subject matter expert. Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders and customers in order to meet the program goals and objectives. Ability to handle multiple priorities at once with minimal supervision. Ability to strategize, plan, organize, and execute to meet set goals.
This is an exempt, onsite position based within UVA Employee Health, with a standard Monday–Friday work schedule. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program is required, with a Master’s degree in a related field required within four (4) years of hire. Candidates must possess a minimum of three (3) years of progressive, relevant clinical nursing experience and hold current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification is required. Specialty Board Certification is strongly preferred.
Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.
Administration:
- Participates in and ensures accurate collection of data related to the team member injury prevention program. May include program process measures and outcome measures.
- Reviews and analyzes data to identify trends to ensure program goal achievement.
- Responsible for outcomes/data presentation in a variety of venues and formats.
- Identifies potential and actual risks and appropriately escalates as needed to mitigate or resolve.
- Manages all appropriate elements of regulatory or program requirements. Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI):
- Lead and manage a systemic and coordinated approach to quality measurement and improvement initiatives.
- Utilizes Lean methods and a variety of QAPI tools.
- Leads and actively participates in QAPI projects.
Professional:
- Collaborates with senior leaders to identify and develop strategic goals and plans.
- Collaborates with subject matter experts as needed to develop understanding of workflows, resources, and pertinent information.
- Serve as a liaison to the UVA Health community, external and credentialing agencies.
- Coordinate regulatory site visit preparation materials and documents as applicable.
- Collaborates with stakeholders in process improvement efforts.
- Participates in projects as a subject matter expert.
Clinical:
- Serves as a clinical resource for clinical teams and leaders specific to the team member injury prevention program.
- Coordinates and/or contributes to the development of practice guiding resources (policies, procedures, guidelines, protocol orders, etc.) effectively utilizing organization interprofessional governance structures.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of current and evolving evidence and best practices related to team member injury prevention, blood and body fluid exposure, patient handling and mobility, OSHA regulation.
Leadership:
- Serves as a clinical and operational leader for the team member injury prevention program, guiding program performance through data analysis, regulatory stewardship, and collaborative partnerships across the organization.
- Ability to develop strategic plans, prioritize initiatives, and execute effectively to achieve established goals.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program, Master's degree in related field within 4 years of hire.
Experience: Three years progressive experience and relevant clinical nursing experience required.
Licensure: Must be a registered nurse and currently licensed to practice in the State of Virginia. Specialty Board Certification strongly preferred.
American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
The starting base rate for this role is $76,398.40 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
