My current objective is to prepare for a position with the Defense Medical Modeling and Simulation Office and a Nurse Instructor position. I currently hold the OIC position for the Combat Medicine Branch with the Defense Medical Readiness Training Institute (DMRTI) at JBSA Camp Bullis and Fort Sam Houston.
An outstanding USAF Emergency Room Nurse who provides high quality care and assessment and treatment using approved standards and guidelines; possesses the ability and skill necessary for rapidly identifying the nature and extent of illness or injury of the patient to establish and prioritize the care needed while in the Emergency Department; has served as an instructor and course director for Air Force nurses which included the planning and execution of the course. Currently serves as the OIC and course director for the Combat Casualty Care Course; duties include reviewing and revising the current program Plan of Instruction and revising the current curriculum and lesson plans evidence-based references and resources.
DEPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE:
Dec 2001 - Jul 2002 - Deployed with the Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group on an accelerated deployment to the Arabian Gulf with the 5th Fleet in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Jan 2003 - Jul 2003 - Deployed with Amphibious Task Force 5 to the North Arabian Sea on an unscheduled deployment in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism.
Jun 2012 - Nov 2012 - Deployed to Bagram Air Field/CJTH, Afghanistan with 455th Expeditionary Task Force as an ER/Trauma Nurse in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Key Responsibilities: Leads the planning and execution of the Combat Casualty Care Course. Reports directly to the DMRTI Chief and advises the DMRTI Chief on conclusions and recommendations that evolves from the branch. Maintains the responsibility for the management/supervision of all branch personnel, to include overseeing of/providing input to or writing required counseling, evaluations, awards, etc. Maintains responsibility for all DMRTI activities that occur on Camp Bullis. Develops and submits business plans for the forward mobility of the branch.
Key Responsibilities: Instructs nurses on Air Force nursing leadership and management concepts and applications which support all 75 Military Treatment Facilities Air Force-wide including the Air Reserve Component and Air National Guard. Sustains 100% subject matter expertise in 3 blocks of instruction for other courses to include. Prepares NC officers for initial assignment as nurse managers for 75 hospitals and clinics. Organizes, plans, coordinates and schedules instructors/guest lecturers to teach 29 lessons in 3 blocks of instructions.
Key Responsibilities: Prepare to assume the role as a subject matter expert in Emergency/Trauma nursing within the Air Force Medical Service or at a Joint assignment. Preparation will be accomplished within this fellowship through clinical immersion, and study of, and exposure to the Emergency/Trauma program at a one or more hospitals maintaining an American College of Surgeons accredited Level 1 Trauma designation.

Key Responsibilities: Lead team shift reports. Assign staff to rooms/duties before shift begins. Direct ER patient operations. Assist with transfers/admits/discharges, LWOBs, complaints, and serve as a staff resource person. Assess, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents patient care.
