An Emergency Room Technician provides basic care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice to assigned patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role must maintain an environment that is prepared for patient care. We see approximately 60,000 patients annually and are a Primary Stroke Center. Additionally, we are credentialed as an ACC Chest Pain Center, providing rapid intervention for those patients experiencing myocardial infarctions. Our Emergency Department has been recently expanded and renovated so we can provide cutting edge technology to all of our patients while delivering improved workflows to foster our already strong teamwork. The registered nurse must demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed to meet the physical, psychological, educational, social, and spiritual needs appropriate to the age of the patient served; as well as the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures. They will be responsible for coordinating patient care and establishing a trusting environment while assisting patients and their family members. The forensic nurse primarily gives care to patients affected by violence and trauma and is able to interact with agencies that respond to these patients. In addition to providing a complete medical forensic exam, they are trained to collect evidence maintaining chain of custody and provide expert testimony in court.
