The Urology RN will provide specialized nursing care to a variety of adult patients with BPH, urologic cancers, urinary dysfunction, UTI’s, gender reassignment, and many other general urology conditions.   This position is primarily procedural based with duties including the administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy and other agents into the bladder; patient education; urethral and suprapubic catheter changes; assisting providers with sterile procedures such as vasectomies and cystoscopies; triage; and injections. This role focuses on the evaluation and management of patients with pelvic floor disorders, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, urinary retention, pelvic organ prolapse, genitourinary fistula, voiding dysfunction, urinary tract infections, neurogenic bladder, and complications related to prior pelvic or urologic surgery. The position is structured with initially supervised clinical practice and a defined progression to independent practice, based on demonstrated competency, institutional privileging, and departmental approval.
