Job Description Summary The 82 bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is in MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital. Most of the beds are private rooms except for 10 semi-private rooms and 7 couplet care rooms. The couplet care rooms allow for admitted postpartum moms to be cared for by a postpartum nurse in the same room as their admitted NICU baby. The Neonatal ICU is the regional referral center for this area, providing care to premature and sick neonates. The Neonatal ICU provides medical and surgical care with the most common diagnoses including prematurity, respiratory distress, congenital heart defects and neonatal surgical conditions. In addition to respiratory and nutritional support, the NICU provides ECMO/CRRT and surgical support. Pediatric Palliative care is available as needed. In addition to respiratory and nutritional support, the NICU provides ECMO/CRRT and surgical support. Pediatric Palliative care is available as needed.
