With 42 beds, it is designed to provide care for patients with high acuity needs. As part of a level 2 trauma center, our PICU is well-equipped to handle a wide range of medical and traumatic emergencies. The patient population of our PICU is diverse, reflecting the complex nature of cases we manage. Approximately 30% of patients are cardiac patients, requiring specialized care for repair of congenital heart defects. With a focus on family-centered care, our patients have access to a full range of pediatric and surgical specialists that treat potentially life-threatening illnesses due to extreme prematurity, congenital defects, injury, chronic illnesses and more.
