Job Description Summary 6W Burn Trauma Stepdown Unit is a 24 Bed Stepdown Unit at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. 6W is a unique unit at MUSC and within the state as the only Burn Stepdown unit. All 6W’s rooms are monitored with 8 rooms being ventilator compatible. All nurses are trained in complex burn dressing changes and are supported by members of the Burn Team and Free-Floating Charge Nurse. Robust unit leadership supports onboarding of new graduate nurses and monitor quality metrics. Our nurses work collaboratively with the Burn Physician Team, Trauma Physician Team Respiratory Therapists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Case Managers, and Social Workers to customize care for patients. 6W offers opportunities for nurses to obtain Med-Surg, Burn, and Trauma certifications.
