Job Description Summary The Endoscopy Procedure Registered Nurse II on the Endoscopy Unit reports to the Nurse Manager. The Procedure RN assist with general endoscopy procedures, such as colonoscopy and EGD. Responsibilities include being on call rotation for emergent and urgent therapeutic endoscopy procedures, which includes holidays, night and some weekends. Responsibilities also include performing instrument inspection, decontamination and disinfection of endoscopes and instruments in compliance with medical center policies and procedures, state, local and federal requirements. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Job Description Summary Endoscopy is a procedural department that serves both inpatient and outpatient procedures. We offer a wide variety of GI procedures, both general and therapeutic procedures, as well as motility specialty procedures, supporting adult, and occasional pediatric, patients. Procedures provided by the unit include, but are not limited to: screening colonoscopy, EGD, dilation for strictures, feeding tube placement, ERCP, ESWL, POEM, and EUS. Endoscopy also includes two prep and recovery units, composed of 23 P/R bays. The general and therapeutic RN’s take call, supporting urgent and emergent endoscopy procedures, and have a team of GI Techs that reprocess the endoscopes with a process called High Level Disinfection. We mostly operate Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, with the call team supporting the urgent cases outside of normal business hours.
