The duties of the Charge Nurse focus primarily on throughput, capacity management, and daily operations. Promotes and maintains the philosophy, values, standards of performance and goals of the organization and the department. Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team to maintain patient safety and achieve desired outcomes. May function as a Registered Nurse as outlined in the Registered Nurse – Emergency Care Center job description. Facilitates patient flow through the Emergency Department and collaborates with inpatient units to coordinate admitted patient flow to the inpatient units.
