Job Description Summary About: MUSC is searching for a PRN NP/PA to work in the Leatherman Behavioral Health Hospital in a collaborative role with the Psychiatry providers to assist in the triage and management of psychiatric patients who present to the hospital. Job Requirements Unit Description Our Behavioral Health area encompasses Geri Psych, Crisis Adult and Adult units, all newly remodeled. Our patients are 18+ and we work with multiple psych case types utilizing a multi-disciplinary team approach including psychiatrists, registered nurses, case management, licensed social workers and licensed professional counselors. Nurse to patient ratios is based upon acuity. We work with a variety of cases, to include Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Major Depression, Dementia, Eating Disorders, Psychosis, etc. Team members enjoy working in this area due to the unique ability to watch patients improve daily and return to their level of functioning (baseline normal). Also, our team members are very fortunate to be able to impact societal mental health understanding thereby reducing stigma. Job Description Summary The MUSC Orangeburg BHU is a 14-bed inpatient mental health unit treating adult patients. Patient rooms are a mixture of semi-private and private rooms equipped with cameras for continuous monitoring and an activity room for daytime activities. We serve adult patients (18-60) with mental health diagnoses and behavioral disturbances. The RN will work with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and assistants in a therapeutic environment to provide treatment to patients in mental health crises. RNs on BHU will be cross trained to work the EmPATH unit.
