The NP will work alongside the attending physicians to care for surgical patients at UCLA West Valley Medical Center including patients on the General Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Urology services.
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate Standardized Procedures (SPs). By using the SPs, the NP is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition, and determines if they are abnormal findings (CA Nursing Practice Act, subsection(b) of Section 2725). Provide and coordinate the care of surgical patients, provide patient/family education, promote safe continuity of care. Participate in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, provide education and support, as well as make appropriate referrals. Document services rendered. NP Supervisor will also act as a resource for the clinical skills for staff, residents, and fellows for surgical patient. The NP supervisor will develop and coordinate orientation and on-going educational programs for all APPs. The NP will assist in coordinating NP/PA student placements and preceptors. In collaboration with the Medical Director, the supervisor will interview hire and evaluate all APP staff. The incumbent will collaborate with surgical nursing and physician leadership to design and implement quality improvement projects, based on outcomes data and areas identified as needing improvement. This candidate will also collaborate with hospital-wide committees to best utilize the role of the advanced practice providers.
This is one APP Supervisor position to be filled as either a NP Supervisor or PA Supervisor
Salary range : $140,200-$331,800/annually
