Pre Operative Care Unit
Job Summary
Leads and facilitates the provision of care for the surgical patients within the Pre-Operative department during the perioperative period through collaboration with interdepartmental and intradepartmental team members and all surgical stakeholders. Supports and facilitates implementation of evidence-based practice and serves as a resource within Sarasota Memorial Health Care System for information, departmental education and training.
Required Qualifications
- Require graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) required within five (5) years of hire date.
- Require a minimum of three (3) years of current satisfactory RN experience with two (2) years within a Pre-Operative RN role and one (1) year as a charge nurse.

- Prefer demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle difficult situations in a diplomatic manner.
- Prefer demonstrated leadership skills and understanding of group processes and teamwork.
- Prefer demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all OR stakeholders: Surgeons, colleagues, and Anesthesia personnel.
- Prefer demonstrated ability to perform diversified duties with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy.
- Prefer demonstrated effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Prefer demonstrated ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem solving expertise.
- Prefer nursing certification in specialty area.
- Prefer basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.

The Venice campus is currently undergoing an expansion that will double the hospital's capacity when complete in 2024.
