Advanced Practice Provider - Inpatient and Clinic - Piedmont Athens Regional
Piedmont Health is recruiting for a PRN Advanced Practice Provider to join the
Trauma/Acute Care Surgicalist team at Piedmont Athens Regional. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery provides comprehensive patient care under the supervision of trauma and acute care surgeons. The APP assists in the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of trauma and surgical patients in both emergency and inpatient settings. This role demands strong clinical skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, and excellent collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. This is a 24/7 operation with 10-hour and 12-hour shifts. The person filling this position must be able to work any shift and commit to at least 20 hours per month.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Evaluation & Management:
o Perform thorough history and physical examinations on trauma and surgical patients.
o Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests and imaging studies.
o Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising surgeons.
o Assist in the initial resuscitation and stabilization of trauma patients in the Emergency Department (ED).
o Manage preoperative and postoperative care of surgical patients.
o Perform invasive procedures such as central line placement, chest tube insertion, wound care, and suturing as delegated.
Documentation and Communication:
o Accurately document patient encounters, procedures, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR).
o Communicate effectively with patients, families, surgeons, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
o Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, trauma team meetings, and case reviews.
Education and Training:
o Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and postoperative care.
Qualifications:
Education: Master's degree required. Completion of an accredited nurse practitioner or physician assistant program is also required.
License/Certification: The candidate must be board-certified as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant and licensed by the State of Georgia.
