Overview:

Advanced Practitioner Provider Specialty OP/IP - Urology

This is a Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in-patient opportunity and the expected work schedule is currently Monday through Friday with 8 hour days. This position works collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other allied health staff to provide all aspects of high quality patient care for urology patientsby performing independent post-operative care and coordination of patient care management for a variety of urology indications.

Responsibilities:
  • There is a call requirement that will not exceed 7 overnight (home-based) weeknight calls per month
  • The ideal candidate would have prior experience providing urological care to patients in a clinic or hospital setting; however, experienced APs from non-Urology specialties or new graduates interested in becoming specialized in Urology are welcome to apply

Provision of care includes, but is not limited to, comprehensive physical assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and in-patient consults, rounding, coordinating care with other Specialties and for follow up as well discharges. Experience with urologic procedures at the bedside is preferred but not absolutely needed. Such procedures include but not limited to: foley catheter placement, urethral dilation, irrigation, cystoscopy.

Additional expectations:

  • All consults at Piedmont Atlanta will be sent to the AP and the Urologist on-call. Immediate or emergent consults will be handled by both the AP in coordination with the Urologist on-call.
  • While the primary work load will be focused in the hospital setting; there may be occasions where the assistance of the AP is required in the clinic.
  • The AP will oversee the CAUTI inpatient program and work directly with the Physician in-charge with respect to the PAH inpatient Catheter service.
Qualifications:

There will be no Operating or Operating Room expectations or opportunities for this position

Masters or Bachelors Degree from an Accredited PA program and National Board Certification

Licensed as a Nurse and approved to practice as a NP by State of Georgia with National Certification.
