**This is a Full-time 36 hours a week Day/Night rotating position.

Level 1 Wing D (L1WD) Hematology/Oncology

The Registered Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide evidence-based care and to continuously monitor and evaluate practice to ensure safe passage of patients that is in the best interest of populations served.

L1WD is a 23 bed unit that cares for patients admitted for extended chemotherapy schedules and associated symptom management issues. Oncology gynecology surgery patients are also cared for during their immediate post operative phase. In the Fall of 2026 the unit will be moving to the new, state of the art patient pavilion here at DHMC. This unit has been designed with patients, families, and staff in mind. This new space will include 32 private rooms; increased capacity for cellular therapy patients; a larger infusion suite to increase from 3 chairs to 7; and increased patient and family centered care areas, including a consult room and a family respite space. The design will also include dedicated staff spaces including a respite room, locker rooms, a break room, a conference room, and a large interdisciplinary rounding space on the unit. Responsibilities
  1. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement and evaluate an individualized plan of care.
  2. Utilizes critical thinking and the nursing process to anticipate and recognize changes in patient status, taking action to modify the plan of care or to elevate to the care team as necessary.
  3. Practices in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics to advocate for patients, uphold their autonomy in decision-making, ensure informed consent and assist patients in families in expressing self-determination.
  4. Actively seeks feedback and acts to improve performance.
  5. Engages in the governance of practice.
  6. Manages interpersonal relationships for self and with others.
  7. Mentors colleagues for the advancement of nursing practice and the profession.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) with 1 year of experience.
  • Associate Degree (ADN) prepared nurses with 2 years' experience.

Required Licensure/Certifications

- Licensed Registered Nurse with New Hampshire eligibility. - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required upon hire and as applicable, higher level per unit certification requirements as stated on the grid attached to the AHA and Life Support Policy - ACLS Certificate required upon hire in Endoscopy, Tele-ICU, Day Surgery Center at CGP (Manchester), Life Safety and Cardiology-Echocardiography
