Level 1 Wing D (L1WD) Hematology/Oncology
The Registered Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide evidence-based care and to continuously monitor and evaluate practice to ensure safe passage of patients that is in the best interest of populations served.
L1WD is a 23 bed unit that cares for patients admitted for extended chemotherapy schedules and associated symptom management issues. Oncology gynecology surgery patients are also cared for during their immediate post operative phase. In the Fall of 2026 the unit will be moving to the new, state of the art patient pavilion here at DHMC. This unit has been designed with patients, families, and staff in mind. This new space will include 32 private rooms; increased capacity for cellular therapy patients; a larger infusion suite to increase from 3 chairs to 7; and increased patient and family centered care areas, including a consult room and a family respite space. The design will also include dedicated staff spaces including a respite room, locker rooms, a break room, a conference room, and a large interdisciplinary rounding space on the unit. This is a great opportunity to work with a National Cancer Institute where the resources for patients are unparalleled. If you are a high performer looking for your next career move, let's connect!
