Responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive care of a Surgical patient. Functions as the circulating nurse in the Operating Room. Provides care to all age groups through the proper utilization of the nursing process; assessment, formulation of nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of plan of care in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines. Responsible for supervising surgical staff to care for patients. Qualifications Education: Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing. BSN preferred. Licensure/Certification/Registry: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois. Certified in CPR or completes certification during Nursing Team Onboarding Experience: 2-3 years’ experience preferred. Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Advanced skills in reading, writing and oral communication. Demonstrates knowledge of basic skills of professional nurse. Demonstrates skills in the use of clinical information systems, basic skills in keyboarding and use of computer systems. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, bend and kneel, reach above head, lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. Ability to work with chemicals and detergents. Ability to work in areas that are close and crowded. Functions as a supporter of intra-team and inter-team relationships. Responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive care in the OR to patients of all age groups, through the proper utilization of the nursing process. Uses tact, sound judgment and a professional attitude at all times when relating to patients, families, and coworkers. Maintains sterile field throughout case by practicing aseptic techniques. Adheres to surgical schedule and case turnover consistent with established standards. Is ready for first case of the day consistent with OR scheduling policies. Identifies and removes faulty equipment from service and reports to appropriate person. Able to transfer patient on and off OR table. Performs other related work as required or requested.
