Summary The Infection Preventionist/Employee Health Nurse is a licensed nurse, who under the direction of the Staff Development and Clinical Support Manager, plans, coordinates, and implements Infection prevention/Employee Health activities. The Infection Preventionist/Employee Health Nurse collaborates with members of the health care team and is responsible for administering and maintaining an effective, efficient, and appropriate Infection Prevention/Employee Health program Education and Formal Training: Current valid RN license with BSN required and a Master's in Public Health preferred . Certification in Infection Control (CIC) from the Association for Practitioners in Infection Control (APIC) required or must achieve within two years of employment. Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in a hospital setting or disease surveillance experience in a public health setting. Experience with nosocomial surveillance preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and temperament; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers at all times. Actively functions as a patient advocate. Must develop knowledge of current hospital emergency policies and procedures, fire, safety, disaster, and infection control policies. Demonstrates self-directed learning and accountability for own professional practice. Identifies problems that influence patient care or employee health and utilizes appropriate mechanism for problem resolution. Promptly notifies supervisor of pertinent issues.
