Acute Care Pediatric NP certification or Pediatric NP with five years of BMT experience strongly preferred. Additional Information: The BMT Pediatric Nurse Practitioner has both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities. Under the general supervision of the Pediatric BMT Team, the NP role includes the following: •BMT NP will coordinate apheresis procedures and follow-up patients receiving these procedures including writing apheresis orders •BMT NP will be able to independently evaluate bone marrow transplant donors and consent them for bone marrow or PBSC donation •BMT NP will provide care for pediatric BMT inpatients including signing admission orders, evaluating patients and managing pediatric bone marrow transplant patients under the supervision of pediatric BMT attending physicians as needed for coverage •BMT NP will assist to coordinate post-transplant care of pediatric bone marrow transplant patients including: follow-up of laboratory tests, making changes in medications based on test results, communicating with patients, families, and referring physicians and nurses from referring institutions, calling in prescriptions and refills, signing home care orders and arranging home care, signing orders for transfusions, laboratory tests, hydration, etc. •BMT NP will also manage BMT outpatients including evaluating laboratory and other testing needed prior to outpatient visits, seeing patients in outpatient clinic, managing medications and prescriptions, interacting with homecare services, generating letters to referring doctors under the supervision of the BMT attending physicians. Position Compensation Range: $81,078.40 - $129,729.60 Annual MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing. Experience: None Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Licensed to prescribe medication in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking/bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
