Occupational Therapy Month 2026

Occupational Therapy Month 2026

April is National Occupational Therapy Month, celebrating the vital role occupational therapy plays in helping people live fully through everyday activities. OT focuses on meaningful tasks—self‑care, work, school, volunteering, and family life—to promote health, well‑being, and independence. From ancient roots in practices like those of the Greek physician Asclepiades to modern Duke University’s new Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program, the profession continues to grow and innovate. Duke’s OTD program, led by Barb Hooper, PhD, OTR/L, is graduating its first class in 2026 and is fully accredited, highlighting excellence in education, research, and clinical care. https://www.aota.org/events/calendar/ot-month
