Description
The Nursing Assistant employs intellectual, interpersonal and technical skills to perform basic patient care. Under the supervision of the Assistant Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse or RN, the Nursing Assistant assists with routine, direct bedside care of patients of various ages as defined by the department scope of service. Such duties include, but are not limited to: personal hygiene, data collection and observation, vital signs, I&O, use of equipment, ADL's, documenting on the medical record, answering call lights, and recognizing and responding to emergency situations.
Demonstrates competency in age specific skills for patients: neonate/infant, child, adolescent, adult, geriatric patients. Incorporates physical, motor/sensory adaptation, cognitive, psychosocial factors into the nursing process (e.g., behavior inconsistent with developmental stage, medications, educational needs, abuse/neglect, communication, etc.)....
