Overview

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Registered Nurse, under general supervision, conducts patient assessments, participates in the development of the plan of care, implements and evaluates care according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care. Employee will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.

The Medsure Duque 4/5 is a 52-bed medical/surgical unit that cares for a broad range of patients including NICCU graduates, respiratory diagnoses such as bronchiolitis, and short stay general surgery, ENT and orthopedic patients. There is also a section designated for the epilepsy monitoring unit, patients with neurological disorders and patients with behavioral health issues and eating disorders.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 1+ year experience as an RN. Pediatric experience required. Inpatient Neuro and MedSurg preferred. Broad knowledge of patient care principles and equipment. Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care; maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies; prioritize tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing.

Education/Licensure/Certification: BSN, current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California and American Heart Association BLS and PALS certification required.
