Job Description

Position Requirements
REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing OR Associate of Science in Nursing with Bachelor of Science in a comparable field OR Associate of Science in Nursing with a minimum of two years experience in a JA Thomas Clinical Documentation Improvement program. :
  • Current RN license in Georgia.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in nursing in an acute care setting through direct patient care, utilization review, case management or quality review with passing score on clinical competency assessment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist.
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of personnel (treating physicians, nurses, CDISs, case managers, quality staff, and coders).
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience in CQI concepts and tools and techniques.
  • Ability to interact with numerous facilities and departments.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word.

PREFERRED:

  • Advanced degree such as MBA, MPH.
  • CDI and mortality auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding conventions and clinical auditing processes.
  • Revenue cycle and operations experience.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding conventions and clinical auditing processes or coding experience.
  • CCDS/CDIP Certification.

License/Certification Requirements: Yes

Work Hours: 8a-5p

Weekend Requirements: No

On-Call Requirements: No
