Under the supervision of the Head Nurse or delegate, assists in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the activities occurring in the nursing station by performing clerical and receptionist duties, and maintaining the physical environment of the area. Performs a variety of duties relating to the patient and the environment, reporting observations to the nurse in charge. Assists licensed nurses in the delivery of care by performing assigned duties.
Education and Formal Training: High School graduate or equivalent. Completion of the approved Nurses Aide I and II courses in North Carolina or Current North Carolina Nurses Aide registry listing verified through the N.C. Division of Facility Services and five years of previous full time experience working as a CNA. . Current North Carolina Aide registry listing verified through the N.C. Division of Facility Services as a CNA I and CNAII with the Board of Nursing, with no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of property and the North Carolina Board of Nursing as a CNA II. New employees required to have BLS certification will be expected to have current certification at new hire or obtain within 30 days of hire date.
Work Experience: Prefer at least one year experience as a unit secretary, Nursing Assistant with additional training such as medical terminology or related experience with typing skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Commensurate with completion of CNA II training. Ability to successfully complete Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital’s orientation program. Competent in delivering safe and effective patient care within the legal limits of certification and hospital policies and procedures.
Some knowledge of nursing measures used to provide personal hygiene and comfort; procedures and techniques in giving simple treatment in providing bedside nursing care. Some ability to physically, mentally, and emotional perform activities involved in this.
