Position Summary: The Registered Nurse/ECMO Specialist III is under minimal supervision conducts patient assessments, participates in the development of the plan of care, implements and evaluates care according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. Ensure appropriate operations of the ECMO pump through the continuous monitoring of the patient condition and all related equipment. Based on their findings, the registered nurse/ECMO specialist is expected to assess, implement and evaluate interventions within ordered parameters. Registered nurse/ECMO specialist will maintain an in depth knowledge of the relationship between the patient and the ECMO pump. Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care. Employee will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications: Three years’ experience as an RN II in a Neonatal/Pediatric Critical Care unit. Preferred: Pediatric experience required. Thorough knowledge of patient care principles and equipment. Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care; maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies; prioritize tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing.
Education/Licensure/Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California, AHA BLS and PALS required. Completion of ECMO Training course.
