Position Summary / Career Interest:

The Infusion Room RN provides professional nursing care to assigned patient in need of intravenous treatment. Administers intravenous therapeutic treatments to outpatient oncology patients including chemotherapy, blood products, electrolyte replacements, fluids, pain medications and more.

Currently hours listed as 11am to 7pm Monday through Friday.

CA11 Medical Oncology

This 32-bed unit specializes in treating oncology patients who require chemotherapy as well as symptom management. Newly diagnosed cancer patients receive the latest treatment options available. Patients receive multi-agent chemotherapy, blood products, antifungals, antibiotics and antivirals. This unit contains one palliative care room.


  • Administers medications safely.
  • Collects and analyzes comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation to determine the diagnosis or issues. a) Performs primary and secondary patient assessments and documents in the medical record accurately and timely. b) Documents changes and omissions of the identified plan.
  • Communicates systematic report to other care providers.
  • Coordinates care delivery; utilizes resources to promote the continuum of care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in all aspects of IV therapy, i.e., hydration, chemotherapy/biotherapy and blood products.
  • Employs strategies to promote health in a safe environment.
  • Evaluates and documents progress toward the attainment of outcomes.
  • Identifies expected interventions and outcomes for an individualized plan of care and communicates effectively with patient, family and other team members.
  • Implements the plan of care in a safe, timely and appropriate manner.
  • Manages patient care based on knowledge of cancer, cancer treatment, and side effects of such treatment.
  • Uses quality and evidence based practice to deliver and improve care.
  • Works closely with more experienced clinicians for guidance and supervision.

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (or higher degree) required
  • Registered Nurse license required for state the clinic is located in, at the time of hire (Kansas or Missouri). Must obtain additional State license, to possess both Kansas and Missouri licensing within 6 months of hire
  • BLS Certification
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy-required within 1 year of employment
  • Must complete BSN within five years of hire as RN
  • IV Therapy skills
  • Infusion/Treatment Depts: ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy course within 6 months of hire
  • Radiation Oncology Depts: ONS ONCC Radiation Therapy course within 3 years of hire


  • BSN Degree preferred
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred
  • 2 years med surg/acute care preferred
  • 2 years oncology experience preferred
