Job Description

The Medical Transport Network Manager is a transformation leader that directs the activities of patient care and support staff. Oversees departments providing field and inter-facility transport of patients requiring basic, advanced, and specialty care.

  • Manages and supports the day to day operations of assigned area(s). Supervises all professional and support staff including but not limited to Registered Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Emergency Medical Technicians, and related clerical staff. Oversees the preparation of schedules, utilizing wage and flex staff as appropriate.
  • Accurately forecasts and manages budget for the unit and ensures that any expenditures are within the budget.
  • Develops programs which address continuous quality improvement, system enhancement, streamlined processes, and overall performance.
  • Ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements specific to the unit supervised. Ensures that the highest quality care is provided to patients and their families.
  • Develops and manages partnerships with clinicians, physicians and administrative counterparts to achieve common goals. Promotes integration of multidisciplinary work groups.
  • Manages recruitment, performance, team member engagement and retention activities of assigned staff.
  • Implement the UVA shared governance model at the unit level ensuring shared decision making that affects clinical practice, quality improvement, professional development and research.
  • Share accountability with the administrator for unit/department/organizational goals achievement including team member engagement and continuous process improvement.
  • Serves as a professional role model, coach, and resource for employees. Participates actively in unit, hospital, and regional committees and work groups and assists in the development and implementation of the units shared governance model.
  • Assumes responsibility for own professional growth.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $81,078.40 - $129,729.60 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program, Master's degree in related field within five (5) years of hire.
Experience: At least 3 years of progressively more responsible experience as a registered nurse in a patient care environment required.
Licensure:
License to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Virginia Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic
American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS
American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS
American Heart Association (AHA) PALS
Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC)
Unrestricted Valid Driver’s License
Required within one year of hire date: Accredited Trauma Course Certification
Neonatal Resuscitation Program

STABLE Program Learner / Provider

Required within two years of hire date: Executive or Clinical Specialty Certification (CFRN, CCRN, CMTE, or NE-BC)


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to safely and securely fasten seat belts and shoulder harnesses in aircraft or ambulance, as provided by the aircraft or ambulance manufacturer, without modification to those safety devices. Able to tolerate stressors of flight and medical transport, including, but not limited to: excessive motion, vibration, extreme temperatures, standing or sitting for prolonged periods, frequent traveling, bending/stooping and providing patient care in confined spaces. Able to respond to visual, verbal and non-verbal commands and communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must be able to lift/push/pull a minimum of 150 lbs. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious diseases.


COVID Vaccination Requirement

Due to the scope of President Biden’s Executive Order 14042 issued in early September, all University employees, including remote employees, must receive their final vaccination dose by January 4, 2022, unless they have a University-approved religious or medical exemption.
