Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse demonstrates thorough knowledge of therapeutic patient care, patient advocacy, clinical pathways/care maps, team dynamics, hospital systems, and serves as a resource for the registered nurse and support staff. Collaborates with leadership in developing and implementing the Spartanburg Medical Center culture, Vision, Mission and goals.
It is the premise of the Professional Practice Program that each of the key responsibilities builds on the preceding requirements.
Our Emergency Center at Mary Black has 24 beds and sees about 115 patients a day. Our Nurse to patient ratio is about 1:4, sometimes 1:5. It is a fast-paced environment with a lot of teamwork, and a great group of people. They are very professional and have a great patient experience. We run in a fast paced environment with a lot of teamwork, the team could not function like it does without the teamwork we have built internally. If you have ever been a waiter, waitress or bartender, this could be the perfect department for you, we are fast paced and are very focused on customer service.
If you are a new grad, you will have orientation for about 12-14 weeks. The first two weeks are in a classroom setting and then you will be on the floor with a preceptor. You also have the opportunity to get certifications in that orientation period. When you start you will also be put in our Nurse Residency program. There is no required time to start to be eligible for this and no contract.
