Our Emergency Center at Union Medical Center is a 24 bed unit but we run about 18 a day. Our Nurse to patient ratio is about 3:1 to 4:1. You will see a lot of Cardiac COPH, CHS, irregular rhythms, some cardiac drips, pneumonia. It is small and able to keep an even keeled pace; you have the opportunity to wear multiple hats for this reason. Med/Telemetry associates have the opportunity to cross train in the Emergency Room as well as the stress lab and monitor techs if they have interest in those areas. You will have the opportunity to learn a lot of information as well as having the support of cutting-edge educational support from Spartanburg Medical Center.
