Our St. Francis hospital is seeking a Magnet Program Coordinator. We are looking for your experience, knowledge and patient care skills where you will be responsible for:

The Magnet Program Coordinator (MPC) coordinates activities required to attain and maintain the American Nurse’s Credentialing Center’s (ANCC’s) Magnet Recognition Program designation. The MPC provides leadership and oversight to the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of Magnet program initiatives. The MPC will work closely with nursing and hospital administration, as well as the medical staff to ensure the organizational culture reflects all of the Magnet components.

Essential Job Functions

1) Lead, mentor, and coach nurses at all levels in their understanding and practical application of Magnet standards

2) Act as a knowledge expert and resource that interprets and integrates the Magnet standards into nursing practice.

3) Promote evidence-based practice and research in nursing practice and educational processes

4) Serve on shared governance councils and function as a liaison to all system departments and consultative resource for administration, nursing, non-nursing employees, physicians, and community

5) Lead Magnet Steering committee

6) Promote nursing excellence, recognition, and empowerment through shared decision making and professional development of nurses

7) Communicate to senior leadership, managers, and staff any changes and updates regarding the Magnet program

8) Develop, coordinate, and evaluate the Magnet program to advance a culture of excellence, including special events, ongoing Magnet campaign and various communication strategies

9) Work in collaboration with Quality to collect, correlate, analyze and generate reports for nursing sensitive indicators

10) Monitor, create, customize, and manage databases responsible to nursing’s needs for the purpose of the annual demographic data collection tool (DDCT), interim monitoring reports, and the publication of the Magnet document

11) Coordinate the preparation, editing, and publication of the Magnet document and oversees system preparation for Magnet related site visits – DDCT, Interim Monitoring Reports

12) Work in conjunction with Director of Quality to prepare an operating budget, which estimates various expenditures, and monitors/reports the status of the budget on a monthly basis

13) Contribute to strategic initiatives through timely data management, analysis, and graphic display for driving actionable nursing and organizational outcomes

14) Attend local, regional, and national Magnet-related conferences and meetings

15) Perform other job related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Experience: 3 years experience in an acute health care hospital. Previous project management experience preferred.

Education/Certification: BSN, Licensed in State of Kansas. Master’s preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Average computer skills with knowledge in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and QI Macros. Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Knowledge of trends in healthcare industry and ability to conduct literature reviews to establish best practices.
