JOB SUMMARY: Competent Clinician. Experience, knowledge and skill in specialty area preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with a team to care for patients. Practice is characterized by predominantly interdependent decision-making. Practice is problem focused, but patient centered in the manner care is provided. Able to manage unexpected or emergency situations that are commonly seen in assigned specialty population. Can manage commonly seen contingency situations that arise on his/her clinical unit.


  • Oncology nurses integrate their technical skills, scientific knowledge, and caring attitude to aid those living with cancer, including their families – starting from diagnosis, treatment, then survivorship to end-of-life care.
  • Performs technical procedures/skills in the specialty area of oncology which may include the administration of medications and treatments specific to cancer care primarily.
  • Will also be expected to be flexible and float to other areas as needed.



  • Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse program.
  • RN with 1 year of experience preferred.


  • Must possess and maintain a current RN license to practice in Texas.
  • Must possess and maintain current CPR Healthcare Provider.
  • Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) upon hire or attain when eligible as certification is mandatory.
  • Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certificate of added qualification upon hire or attain through the Oncology Nursing Society when eligible as certification is mandatory.
