About Vidant Medical Center

Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital of Vidant Health, which provides services to 1.4 million people in 29 counties throughout eastern North Carolina. Vidant Medical Center is a fully accredited Level-1 Trauma Center with 900+ beds and over 7,000 employees. The state-of-the-art medical center provides acute, intermediate rehabilitation, outpatient services, and Home Health and Hospice services.

Vidant Medical Center is the only rehabilitation center in eastern NC with specialty units for Stroke Rehabilitation, Pediatrics, Brain Injury, Neuro and Spinal Cord Injury. Vidant Medical Center also has 6 CARF accredited programs. Programs and equipment include Lokomat, ZeroG Harness, Bioness, and Biodex.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Diploma is required
  • 2 - 4 years experience is required
  • Current NC RN license or licensure to practice in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state Health Care Provider is required
  • Basic Life Support is required

Other Information

Rehab Medicine is an acute 30 bed unit that provides care to various population of patients. Some of our patients are admitted directly from Intensive Care in order to being improving on the better outcome for the patient and to hopeful reduce the length of stay for the patient. Listed below are some of the common diagnoses of our patient’s population included but limited to:

  • Orthopedics, Amputations, Cardiac, Respiratory, Debility, Trauma, Vents, Spinal Cords, and Stroke
  • Specialized care for adults and geriatrics
  • 1000 admissions a year
  • Average LOS - 15 days
  • RN ratio 1:5
