Job Description

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing and current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina; Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; certification by the Association of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses required (CWOCN,CWN,CON,CCN, CWON) Minimum 3 yrs of applied clinical experience as Registered Nurse; Minimum of 2 year Surgical Nursing experience required.

APTITUDES: General knowledge of healthcare system, local, stat, and federal laws as applicable and nursing/hospital policies, procedures, equipment, materials and supplies; Knowledge of both internal and external resources; Knowledge of age specific needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations and cultural awareness of differences; Knowledge of personal computer, Microsoft Office and other applicable software.

SKills and abilities to include clinical critical thinking skills; interpersonal and management to advocate safe organizational practices, development of staff members at various levels and leadership of committees, work groups and projects.

FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILITY: Establish standards of care and clinical competencies; Assess, document, and rack "present on admission" wound issues; Establish training programs to ensure competence; Coordinate, negotiate, procure and manage skin and ostomy care; target patients with complex wounds, and skin integrity issues; Works collaboratively with staff internal and external to organization; Participates in performance improvement initiatives related to skin and ostomy care.
