We are looking for a Registered Nurse II for Cardiac Cath Lab at St. Jude Medical Center.

Location: Fullerton, CA

Work Schedule: Full Time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 10-hour, Days

Job Summary:

The RN independently uses the nursing process to safely, therapeutically and efficiently care for a group of patients. Uses information from a variety of sources to assess, plan, implement, identify outcomes and evaluate patient's plan of care.

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitates patient care through effective communication.
  • Develops and maintains therapeutic and effective relationships with patient/family and the health care team.
  • Delegates care appropriately.
  • Participates in Shared Governance/Participative Leadership.
  • Demonstrates awareness of unit and service guidelines related to staffing and scheduling.
  • Cardiac Cath Lab:
  • The Cardiac Catheterization Lab/Special Procedures R.N. will function as an advocate/be responsible for the care of patients undergoing diagnostic/interventional procedures while providing total patient care.
  • The R.N. will assist the physician by assessing patient status based on ASA and by assisting with circulating, scrubbing and monitoring duties as well as administration of Conscious Sedation per physician order and hospital policy.
  • Performs circulating nurse duties during diagnostic/interventional cardiac and radiological procedures, manages venous and arterial lines/puncture sites.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic EKG interpretation, vasoactive medication, sedation/analgesia, hemodynamic monitoring and emergency protocols.
  • Demonstrates ability to input patient and procedure data into the hemodynamic monitoring system, generates an accurate report and places documentation in chart.
  • Assesses patient status based on ASA and administers Conscious Sedation per physician order and hospital policy.
  • Performs circulating nurse duties during diagnostic/interventional cardiac and radiological procedures, manages venous and arterial lines/puncture sites.
  • Administers contrast media administration/proficient identifying and treatment of adverse reactions.
  • Surgically assists physicians with scrubbing cardiac/radiological diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Certified by St. Jude Medical Center in Moderate Sedation.
  • Must be able to take emergency call back within a 30-minute response time.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of sterile technique, radiation safety, emergency procedures, knowledge of arterial and venous circulation.
  • Ability to work effectively with others by demonstrating a team approach to patient care.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing:
  • Graduate from nursing school (Hired on/after 1/1/11), or Hired prior to 1/1/11 (and rehired after 1/1/11):
  • Graduate from nursing school with a diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; or Hired as a result of a unit transfer from Heritage:
  • Graduate from nursing school with a diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; or Hired as a ministry transfer:
  • Currently enrolled in a BSN program with an expected graduation date within 6 months of hire.

Experience:

  • One (1) year acute care experience.
  • One (1) year Critical Care or Cath Lab experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current CA Registered Nurse License.
  • American Heart Association BLS Health Care Provider.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience: Two (2) years Acute Care experience in the Cardiac Cath Lab and/or Special Procedures Lab.

Licenses/Certifications: Professional Nursing Organization Membership.
